The research group has developed a phytosanitary composition and a method for producing it that allows to reduce insect pests populations that attack palms and related. The composition based on agricultural byproducts of palm trees and entomopathogenic fungi (biological control agents) permit dramatically reduce the insect population in a few days without causing damage to the plant or its beneficial organisms.

The composition has an easy application in the field and the fungi may withstand longer on adverse environmental conditions. Therefore it is a very effective biopesticide, with good characteristics of preservation, storage and production mode (even allows scaling-up to industrial level). The group is looking for companies interested in acquiring this technology for commercial exploitation.
